Dr. Stacy Sims | Low carb and keto diets and IF

Dr. Stacy Sims is BACK for an in depth discussion of dietary strategies as they relate to WOMEN specifically, including low carb diets, intermittent fasting and the ketogenic diet. We’ll be talking about nutrient timing and why it's essential to focus on muscle over fat loss, plus optimal training strategies for women at all ages, including peri and post menopause, as well as hormone replacement therapy and adaptogenic herbs.

Dr. Andrew Huberman | Time-restricted feeding

This episode I discuss the science and practice of fasting also called time-restricted feeding. I review the data on how limiting food intake to specific portions of every 24-hour cycle (or fasting longer) impacts weight loss, fat loss specifically, liver health, mental focus, muscle, longevity and more. I explain how "fasted" is contextual, and relates to blood glucose levels and their downstream effects, and how the depth of fasting can be adjusted with behaviors such as different types of exercise, or with glucose disposal agents. I also discuss the optimal fasting protocol: and both the absolute (non-negotiable) and variable (contextual) features of a fasting/time-restricted-feeding protocol that will allow you to get the most benefits. I also discuss what does and does not break a fast, the effects of fasting on hormones like testosterone and cortisol and on fertility. I also review how different feeding windows of 8 or 10 or 4 hours differentially impact the effects of fasting, and why the classic 8 hour feeding window came to be but also might be ideal. I discuss mechanisms and offer tools to discern the optimal fasting duration and timing for you.

Dr. Jill Carnahan & Betty Rocker

Join Betty Rocker and functional medicine practitioner Dr. Jill Carnahan as they take a look at some of the root causes of fat gain she sees in her practice that people don’t often expect. Hear who is a good candidate for intermittent fasting (and who isn’t) plus more on hormone health, how to read labs, recommendations for adaptogenic herb use, and more!

Dave Asprey & Tom Bilyeu

Early to mid 2000s became the time of “hacks.” The popularity of lifestyle hacks and health hacks are evidence of how lazy we really are. It’s time to admit how lazy we actually are. We’ve been trying to hack our way out of any real effort in life, health, and success.  The “father of biohacking,” Dave Asprey is a champion for health hacks and admittedly just as lazy as everyone else. Most people will admit to wanting a great physique and outstanding physical, mental, and emotional health, yet people spend all of their time avoiding the things that get the results they say they want.  Dave is joining Tom on this episode to reveal the idea behind his latest book, Smarter Not Harder: The Biohacker’s Guide to Getting the Body and Mind You Want. Aside from the fact that we’re all naturally conditioned to be lazy, as Dave explains, we’re also bombarded with misinformation that makes getting the body and mind you want near impossible.  Losing weight is at the top of the list for a lot of people, but so is boosting energy and keeping the mind sharp and focused. This episode with Dave is going to reveal a few key ideas for you:  Why you don’t need a caloric deficit to lose weight 3 reasons why calories in calories out doesn’t work (and should be banned) How you can actually hack spirituality  Dave Asprey is the founder of the Bulletproof diet and Upgrade Labs. He’s already reversed his biological age by 11 years thanks to biohacking and following tons of research. He’s gone from a 46 inch waste to losing over 100 pounds and maintaining a healthy weight. Dave has created a movement around the power of intention and human spirit in pursuit of high performance.
